St. Andrew’s Parish Wedding: Marivic and Richard

There is a story to the following images. The flower girl was looking for her mother but later on decided that her aunt would be enough to accompany her during the recessional. 😉

Melanie and I met in photography school last year and we hit it off right away. We had been sending each other clients/referrals and I had been waiting for the day that I could invite her to second shoot for me and vice versa. The opportunity finally came right before I left Vancouver! The day was perfect. The bride and groom were just so cute and lovely together. The bridal party were so fun and and loud. Nothing went less than perfect. We even had the extra time to do the portraits (initially, we thought we would be running out of time), went to Starbucks where Marivic and Richard first met and got some treats of great images ourselves. At the end of the night, I was just reminded again why I am doing this. I love being in weddings, in the midst of couples in love and the whole family celebrating for their love. Learning about them and how they met, incorporating these details to their heirlooms and cheering on them for committing their lives to each other. This is what life is about. It is not about being alone by yourself, working successfully for yourself and measuring it with the money we saved in our bank accounts. It is about sharing with people we love. And when you finally meet “the one”, you commit to do life together. Two is better than one.

The day after the wedding, still feeling that I was walking on the cloud, Mel sent me a message on my gchat: Thank you so so so much for all your help last night! The family was saying awesome things about you (“She’s really professional!” and “I like how she’s not one of those hovering-type photographers” were some of the comments I heard…. :P). The wedding party also commented on how easy going you were as well.

When wedding photographers said that they have the best job in the world, they are saying the truth. I am glad that my job is to create memories for my couples and their families. To bring smiles on their faces, knowing that they have made the right decision in their lives. To love and to share.

~Happy Friday and share the love!

Thank you so much for helping me with shooting, Jenn!

I wish you were still here in BC! Jenn is awesome to work with–she was unobtrusive during the ceremony and grabbed some amazing shots that I wasn’t able to get. I totally recommend her, whether you’re a bride looking for a photographer or as a photographer looking for an extremely reliable second shooter.

Well done, and I definitely hope to see you the next time I visit Toronto!
