Our Favourite Lately: Chick Flicks

I have to clarify that although the title says/this is a part of our “Our Favourite Lately”, Kevin will not condone that he took part writing this post. While editing, I love to have background noise so I stay focused. I know it sounds weird but it helps me not shifting my attention from the editing with the voices of people in the room! I switched between music, sermon podcasts, tv shows and movies. When in doubt, there are a few chick flick movies I kept returning to. Probably because I have seen these a million times (so my eyes still glued to my editing monitor while these movies were playing on my laptop), I love having these on:

Five Year Engagement

We didn’t see the movie right away when it came out but I had it in my mind as Jamie kept mentioning it on her twitter and blog during that period of time. I think about 5 months later we stumbled to this movie in a rental store and I wondered how have I missed it for that long! To start with, we always love San Fransisco where the movie started! I love the plot of this movie and Kevin just loved that Emily Blunt is so natural and awkward at the same time in her character. The first time we saw this movie, we laughed SO many times! And a few parts still trigger this even after listening to the sound only of this movie every single month (while editing I tell ya! ;)) All in all, I love this movie because of the real-ness of this couple’s situation. I won’t be a spoiler here but I heard about this kind of story quite many times. But in the end, when you are meant together, you are meant to be together 🙂

Kate and Leopold

Ohhh Meg Ryan… I think I have a girl crush on her. I watched every movie she starred in and I remember when “You’ve Got Mail” just came out, my mom and I watched it three times in the theater. We just love her! But from all her silly and outstanding love movies, this one stands out for me. Maybe the props, maybe the plot, maybe Meg herself, I don’t know… You decide!

I don’t just love the plot of this movie. But seeing the ease-ness (and silliness) of Zooey and Joe here, I have that feeling that they would be a  perfect couple. Too bad that it’s only a movie! Or should I be thankful that it’s only a movie with that ending? 😉 I have so many favourite scenes from this but I always have to steal 3 minutes from my editing attention to see this part of the movie, every. single. time. Too darn cute! Okay, maybe not just that part but a few more!!
