Me Today: Planning and Believing

It’s almost the end of June! Oh my goodness. I still can’t believe it. I feel that I have been running nonstop in life: working, researching on the next shoot or replying on emails (during my one hour lunch time), working again, running to class or studio or shooting, editing before going to bed or researching on other photographers’ works or following up on day-to-day things on our business. Same with Kevin. I think his schedule is even crazier than mine keeping in mind I do delegate and he is my only business partner. This has been going on since April or slightly before that…

One of my friends told me she has been doing the same. It feels like a hamster running in a big wheel, you know that thing they have in hamsters’ cages? Yes, that thing.

I thought it would be nice to plan for a short retreat for ourselves so I contacted Rivendell and asked for their availability for July 1’s long weekend. Hopefully they are still available… I have a few books in mind that quickly need to be read. I need that time alone to breath and see the big picture. I take this break once in awhile just so that I stay sane. Don’t get me wrong, I love those days when phone calls kept coming and emails with urgent needs need to be replied right away and the fact that we forgot we only have 24 hours in a day and plan a to-do-list that requires at least 36 hours to finish. I am that kind of person :D. But, I realized that I am most productive when I can pull myself out of those days once in awhile, read some books, look at the big picture and plan some more.

On our flights to the East coast back in April this year, I accomplished that thinking and planning and rearranging time while Kevin is dozing off due to the tiredness. He worked so hard the last 3 days before we left though. I don’t think he slept more than a couple hours each day closer to that trip (remember, I delegate). I was so glad that I was wide awake the whole flight and looked at my life and the path God wants me to go. It was so worth it. I am glad. I am glad and thankful and blessed. Anyway, I plan for that time sometime soon. A time of praying and reading and reflecting.

Here is a series I love from my Coal Harbour session, I hope you enjoy them as much as I do :D.
