Book Review: Love Does

This book is such a delight! We picked it up because we read from this that Bob jumped into the lake with his whole family to bid Don and his friends a goodbye. That’s amazing, isn’t it? Who does that? Right then, we knew we had to read this book.

Love Does is a story book filled with Bob’s experiences with some of his friends, a couple strangers that crossed path with him (one of them through a car accident that shot his body through the roof of his car!) and in some circumstances in life. We love Bob’s writing style. Most times it felt like he was sitting right across us in the living room, smiling and telling us these great stories. He shared jokes from the wisdom he gained through these experiences. There are also times that we shed tears as he openly shared the bright sides of the not so bright experiences he had in life. All in all, we learned so much from him and equipped/challenged in continuing his legacy of living more fully and loving more openly.

Here is one of the best paragraphs in the book that we’d love to share with you. It shares so much of Bob’s personality and the way he sees life:

This is the kind of book that is easy to read but gives you the challenge at the end to do something about it. Bob invites all the readers to live life to the fullest. To share love by doing it. Not the hallmark kind of love of just saying it or having it written down.

We also admire his epilogue: to move our dreams down the road is to figure out what the next step is and do that. It sounds simple or formulaic but really, that’s it. If you feel like there is more to it. No, there isn’t. The next step is as easy as writing and sending an email, buying a plane ticket or picking up the phone. Or even just showing up.
