Toronto Proposal: Thompson Hotel Rooftop Proposal
January 15, 2021
Every time we met our couples for the first time, we asked how they proposed. Some kept it simple, some did an elaborate one. Both are special to the couples. It’s how their story started and they would always remember it. As we shot more and more weddings and got to know bridesmaids and groomsmen, they became close to us and we were lucky enough to document their proposals. Hope you enjoy this Toronto proposal tips and tricks!
We got asked a lot on how to plan for a proposal and here are a few that we kept saying to those who asked (We have also accumulated more points/tips from past clients 😉 ):
1. Location
Think about a place where you both have been or you would love together. We have shot in a cafe where the first date happened as well as a rooftop terrace (where the couples had never been but they’ve always loved seeing cityscape together during traveling)
2. Season and timing
Some locations are outdoors and during our Canadian winter, even though it’s romantic to propose in the snow… You are not a weatherman to predict what the windchill is going to be that day. Have a back up indoor location nearby if it’s in the winter! Or plan to have it in the summer.
3. Spa and beauty
It’s never a bad idea to lavish your girl with hair and make up appointments that day. We have guys who are creative enough to get the girls’ bestfriends to “win” a makeup contest or so. 😉 Looking amazing on proposal day (and photos!) would win bonus points from the girls!
3. Contacting a photographer
Choose a date together and setup a meeting would be ideal. Photographers can give you ideas of what the best backdrop and lighting and a lot more. If you’re ready for some planning, shoot us an email hello@helloinspira.com or @helloinspira on Instagram!
4. Tying Hair
This might sound weird to you but we’ve suggested this over and over to the guys and they do create better photos. Tying long hair helped in capturing reaction photos! Something that you can suggest to the make up and hair point person! Some photos below if you’re not convinced! 😉
