Toronto Florist and Designer: Delight Floral + Design

After a success visit and blog response last month on a wedding dress boutique, we relentlessly looked for a wedding vendor to feature in May and on our flight back home from Thailand… We found Delight Floral + Design on Instagram.

It is amazing how small our world is because of the internet. Five years ago when we started shooting weddings, we had no idea that we’d move the business to Toronto (from Vancouver). And three years ago, planning visits and blogging about Toronto wedding vendors was our monthly goal. Looking back, we had no idea that we would continue doing this three years down the road. And we would never got a chance to meet and spend a lovely afternoon with Sarah from Delight Floral + Design, should we not continue doing this!

Enjoy the photos of Sarah’s beautiful studio and the mini interview we had with her:

Who is behind Delight Floral+Design? How did you get involved in the wedding industry?

Delight Floral + Design consists of just me for now, but I have big hopes and expect to expand it in the near future. I actually always wanted to get involved in the wedding industry as an event designer, but it wasn’t until I took a floral design class that I discovered a natural knack and love for this type of design. After many events, gigs and arrangements later, I yearned to create a more personal footprint and take full creative control, and so DeLight was formed. 🙂

What do you do when you are not working on your business? 🙂

I love to travel. I’ve hit Europe and most of Asia but there are so many more places I’d like to go. There are so many beautiful creations in this world, and I definitely get inspired through mother nature.

What are your favourite flowers and why?

I actually love roses.

It comes in so many different colours, shades, shapes and blooms. They’re just classic and romantic. I love using them in my creations. And not to mention, they are one of the more stronger stems and they last really long. Sometimes I just stare at a bloom and wonder how something can form so intricately like that.

What is the most interesting wedding theme you’ve worked on? OR What is a wedding theme and design that you dream on working on?

Twilight. Let me explain. If there’s one thing I liked about those movies, it’s (obviously) the wedding scene in the final movie. The scene/wedding is absolutely gorgeous and as soon as I saw that I thought how much I would love to do something this one day. It might be over-ambitious but what can I say, I’m a dreamer.

What type of clients do you find yourself enjoy working with?

I enjoy working with clients who are down to earth and who I can have a good conversation with over coffee 🙂

What are the next steps after a couple contacted you about their wedding?

I like to get to know the couple. This might sound odd but it’s actually one of the most important processes. As you get to know their personality you get a sense of their style and what they want.

What is your favourite part of the wedding planning process?

Selecting the flowers! It’s when all the planning, emailing back and forth, meetings and phone calls finally come forth into reality 🙂
