I still remember the moment when I heard about Sandy Hook for the first time. It was noon on Friday and I was driving home from a meeting. As I turned on the radio to check on the traffic, the radio host reported an update on the situation and I was confused listening to it. I pulled to the next exit and went straight to my phone to read more about the shooting. That weekend, amongst friends, we talked about how crazy the incident was and how we would never be ready to get a call (from a school or teacher) like that in our lives. Just like any other incident, the news died down a few months later. Because trully, we live in a fallen world where bad things happened and the next thing hit the newsstand.
Last week, I was leisurely browsing on the internet when I found this video. Over the weekend, I thought about the incident even more. It was snowing heavily on Saturday (the 14th) so being at home and not doing much, naturally led me to think about it even more. I was floored by the news of the incident. And I was, of course, upset about it. But last week, as I learned that Alissa (and Robert) had used this opportunity to turn this event around… I could not be more surprised. To lose a 6 years old whom you gave birth to and raised was hard. To fight against the evil that took that sweet soul away was as hard, if not harder. I applaud this family for choosing life over death. To do something about it and create a video this beautiful to help them (and everyone around them) remembering the cause of this… The least I could do is share it here and say that I agree, evil did not win.
Share the love,
Jenn

Beautiful. Hard to watch, yet beautiful and inspiring. Thanks a lot for sharing.
Unreal! Such an incredible story! I think we all can learn a lot from this incredibly strong, brave family!
Thanks for sharing, Jenn.
Wow, such a powerful video. Thanks for sharing!
Wow that is powerful! I remember being glued to the television all day when Sandy Hook happened! I have a 7 year old who is in school and my heart went out to all of those families! So tragic!
