March 2013: Chicago through iPhone Photos + Food List
I have said here that we tried out new food. A lot. As a matter of fact, our other activities/visits were scheduled around the food that we wanted to try. 😀 So, here is Chicago from my iPhone. And I also added a list of places we went for food at the end of the post. The recommended ones. Chi ladies and gents, do we miss anything? 🙂
Lemon Pistachio and Cinnamon Vanilla Glazed Donuts from Do-Rite Donuts (order their coffee too!) // Le Breton from Toni Pattiserie & Cafe // Your unordinary hotdogs at Franks ‘N’ Dawgs // Char Dog from Gold Coast Dogs // A couple great pie places (based on Yelp and trust me, they are good!!) : Hoosier Mama Pie and Bang! Bang! Pie Shop // Not pictured but super good: italian beef sandwich from Al’s Beef and UB Dogs // Deep Dish Pizza from Lou Malnati’s // Brunch on the last day was ah-ma-zing at the Southport Grocery and Cafe. It seems that you can’t go wrong with anything you order here and even their bottomless coffee is good. Kevin ordered their eggs&gravy and he testified it was the best he ever had. We were not sure if we had room for their adult’s pie (last picture) but we did not regret going for it!
Share the love,
Jenn

Wow Jenn these are wonderful! Love the image of the “El” and those donut shots are seriously making me hungry 🙂
Oh how amazing! I’m going to have to bookmark this so I remember where to eat the next time I’m in Chicago! Makes me hungry!
You officially have me craving yummy Chicago eats! Delicious and I love love iPhone goodness!
Ok, now my stomach is growling, lol.
Everything looks delicious! Great images of the city too!
Fun post! Enjoyed seeing it!
I kind of love iPhone photography. And now I’m hungry! haha
Oh man, I have a whole list of food places to try next time you visit- wish we had connected before now!! 🙂 You hit a lot of the good ones though and no matter what anyone says, Lou Malnati’s is the best Chicago-style pizza (although as a NY girl nothing can compare to thin crust). And in a city obsessed with brunch, Southport Grocery is my absolute favorite. Big Star is a must visit next time!! xo
thanks, jenn! big star, duly noted. 😉
This post made m so hungry! I also really want to visit Chicago. I hope I get a lay over there eventually for a couple of days so I can see some of the amazing museums
hey whitney! yes, we want to go back and see the museums! that’s what we’ve missed this time!
Mmm, I am hungry just from looking at this! I haven’t been to Chicago yet, but this is just adding to the list of reasons to go.
Oh no, this post is creating some craving I shouldn’t have. Must go to the gym now ;(
I wish my husband and I had your adventurous spirit. We weren’t raised to try new things and it’s definitely depleted us of some great experiences. Maybe we can break out in our 40’s. Thanks for the inspiration.
oh michelle, i know it’s easier to be said then done but we constantly remind ourselves (on things that we are fearful of) that to start off: it only takes one step of courage. maybe for you it’s to visit the store, look at the menu board and take one bite (okay, it’s three steps here but you know what i meant!). just remember that you can always throw it away if you don’t like it 😉
