Gratitude Journal

This will be a post that is different than usual.

This morning, it snowed ever so lightly. I shared on our Instagram story that yesterday was one of the best days ever. We have never had five back to back meetings in the past and we broke the record yesterday! Twelve years of client meetings and eleven years of shooting weddings. We might have had five different meetings clustered throughout the day in the past but not back to back! I was nervous scheduling them that way but Kevin said just do it and glad that I listened! When they were all done, we still had two hours of sunshine and blissful walk with our pup!

After that big day, I took today a little easier. I filled in the gas at Costco and waited for almost twenty minutes in the car. As the snow fell on the windshield, so many thoughts went through my mind. This image above was one of our snowy sessions last year with Hedy and Ryan. It went through my mind as well. It’s been twelve years that we have been doing this. I have to be honest that not all those years were wonderful. I had a withdrawal when the government pulled back events for the second time mid 2020. I thought there was no way we were able to pull through our financial commitments with more weddings being rescheduled. Looking back now, it feels like a small moment in our lives. And I am SO grateful that we stuck through everything. That we have family, friends, vendor friends and clients who trusted us and still wanted us to document their weddings. I don’t know how to say this guys but it truly is a wonderful feeling to hear that you want us to do this for you. We always say we don’t take it lightly and if needed, I will say it a thousand more times.
Snow is always a gentle reminder that ” the time of rest” is here for us. Most of our weddings are in the summer. As it snowed today and the forecast keeps telling us this is the last snow of this year, I am so elated that this year is going to be one of our biggest years again. Since before the pandemic, we haven’t had a full year like 2023. And it’s an enormous blessing to be given that feeling of excitement, to see the full year in front of us and as if it’s our first year again. Our first year with eleven years of experience is not a light feeling. I will always have those jittery feelings in my stomach for your day. It could be our fifth or eleventh or twentieth wedding of the year but this is your day. Your first one and we are not taking it lightly. Thank you so much for this trust! We really are bornt to do this and without you, we won’t have this opportunity! Thank you, thank you and THANK YOU! View more of this winter engagement session here.
Much, much love,
Jenn
